Firmware update failures
Let's find the problem!
Normal wireless updates use the Dawn Tracker OTA Update Center. If you run into trouble, start with these checks; there is no need to work out flashing or recovery modes yourself.
The page can't connect to the receiver
- Use the page's browser-check option to confirm update support.
- Check that the receiver uses a USB data cable, not a charging-only cable.
- Close other tools using the same device; temporarily close SlimeVR if needed.
- Reconnect the receiver, click the Receiver connection option and select the matching device.
- Try another data cable or USB port if it is still not detected.
The OTA page requires WebHID. Safari and Firefox are not currently supported. Complete the check in a supported browser before updating.
The Tracker I want to update is missing
Check that it has battery power, is switched on and connects through the receiver. Follow the page prompts to turn it on and gently move it, then check the list.
If it also fails to connect in SlimeVR, use Connection troubleshooting first.
The update stops or reports an error
Save the error screen first
Capture the full error screen and check that the USB cable is stable. Follow any reconnection or retry prompts on the page.
If it still fails after reconnecting, contact us with your model, whether you were updating a Tracker or receiver, and the failing step and screenshot.
Devices missing from SlimeVR after updating
Restart SlimeVR, check Tracker battery and receiver connection, then check the list again. If they are still missing, tell support what happened before and after updating so we can confirm the next step.
When support asks you to use other tools
Get Dawn Tracker Tools or the Dawn Tracker (WCH) flashing tool through our Discord/QQ support groups or customer support.
If a wired device is not detected, check the data cable. Mini must use the dock's data slot; Lite 2 v2.1 uses the WCH flashing tool. Follow support or tool instructions for the actual procedure.
For the normal workflow, see Firmware updates and flashing.
