4. Troubleshooting

Connection problems

Let's find the problem!

First identify the problem: no devices at all, or connected devices that stutter or drop out. Change one thing at a time so you can compare results.

No Trackers appear

  1. Check that the Trackers have battery power and are switched on.
  2. Connect the receiver to your computer or directly to your headset with a USB data cable. Attach the antenna first on external-antenna models.
  3. Open SlimeVR and check the device list.
  4. Reconnect the receiver and restart the Trackers and SlimeVR.
  5. Try a known-working data cable and another USB port.
  6. Close other tools using the same device to rule out conflicts.

Dawn Tracker needs no Wi-Fi setup. Your set is already paired. Start with these checks; use the Pairing guide only for new devices, replacement receivers or confirmed lost pairing data.

Trackers appear in SlimeVR, but not in SteamVR

Reinstall SlimeVR from the official website and make sure “SteamVR Driver” is selected during installation.

Connected, but stuttering or disconnecting

1. Check the antenna

Mini 2 series and advanced Lite 2 receivers have external antennas. Check for secure connections, loose fittings or visible damage. The basic Lite receiver has no external antenna; check its placement and connection instead.

Keep the antenna upright, with its side facing your play area. For the basic Lite 2 receiver, place it upright with its front (the button side) facing the play area.

2. Move the receiver into an open area

We recommend placing the receiver upright in an open area, with its side facing your play area.

If it is behind your PC, under a metal desk or blocked by large objects, use a USB extension cable to move it onto the desk or closer to your play area.

Comparing placements is often more helpful than repeatedly re-pairing.

3. Change the USB cable or port

Use a known-working data cable directly in your computer's USB port. If front-panel ports or a hub are unstable, try a rear motherboard port.

4. Move away from interference

Avoid placing the receiver right next to routers, wireless adapters, USB 3 devices, external SSDs/hard drives or hubs. Increase the distance and compare stability.

5. Check battery level

Charge the affected Tracker and retest.

SlimeVR's TPS indicates how often data updates. A large drop, frozen movement or repeated offline status is a reason to work through the checks above.

6. Still seeing interference, or using multiple receivers?

Changing the radio channel may help. This is an advanced operation; ask support before changing it.

Only one Tracker has an unstable signal?

Swap its wearing position with a working Tracker, update the body-part assignments and compare:

  • The problem follows the same Tracker: Check its battery, physical condition and device status.
  • The problem stays at the same body location: Check obstruction, mounting and receiver placement first.

After testing, return them to their original parts, check assignments and reset.

Checking the environment further

Scan for wireless interference

Select Receiver. Your receiver firmware must support this command. Open ⓘ in the top-right corner to view the results.

Select the correct device. Disconnect any other card or tool using that device first.

Not connected

This checks nearby wireless interference. Follow the instructions for your firmware when adjusting channels. If unsure, send the results to us for help.

Still disconnecting?

Restart the Trackers, receiver and SlimeVR; restart your computer if needed. Tell support your model, how many devices disconnect, which cables/USB ports you tried, and include a photo of receiver placement.
